How to Cozy-Up Your Home

Fall is a favorite time to warm things up with cozy decorations. From rich, autumn colors to cool colored pumpkins; there’s many different ways to get cozy-chic as the weather cools-off for the fall season!

  • Warm up with burlap: Not just for sacks anymore! Burlap is an easy way to give a table an extra-rustic feel. Use burlap as a table runner and/or placemats to give your place settings a cozy “cabin in the woods” look.
  • Pinecone pretty: Pinecones can serve as everything from wreath accents to seating card holders for a dinner party. If you want to go extra woodsy- fill a vase up with these little guys and enjoy the outside elements, warm inside.
  • Leaf pairings: Colorful leaves are abundant this time of year; why not incorporate some into a fall floral arrangement for the table? This will add a pop of color and a touch of the season without much effort.
  • Branch beauty: Branches can be great décor and at a (very) minimal cost. Collect branches that are all the same length for a large vase and spray-paint or paint the area where the branch broke in metallic gold or silver to add some rustic yet polished appeal to your home. Place them in a tall vase and surround them with white “ghost” pumpkins and a few interesting gourds for an unforgettable arrangement.
  • Play with plaid: Nothing says fall quite like plaid. However, incorporating it into your home in unexpected ways/colors can add a bit of fall flair in a pinch. Cover a small entry table with a dark plaid blanket for an extra element of warmth to welcome guests. Or paint a pumpkin plaid for a little flavor to an old favorite fall decorating item.
  • Fireplace fun: This is the perfect time of year to curl up by the fire. However, if you’re not a fan of the maintenance/mess and/or your fireplace is just decorative; try piling up candles in different heights/colors for a warm and inviting scene. For those of you with children and/or curious pets, there are many battery-powered options!
  • Mums the word: What’s fall without a few mums, am I right? They come in the most delicious jewel colors like cranberry, mustard and eggplant. Place these plants nice and snug up on the porch to cozy up the entry way. Add a few porch pillows to any seating you may have, and snuggle in to watch the leaves fall.
