Pooch Activities This Fall

Pooch Activities This Fall
Let’s face it; dogs love fall as much as we do. The air is cooler, the food is warmer and it’s easier to play outside when the weather isn’t so hot. When the leaves are falling and the cider is flowing this autumn, try some of these fun fall activities with your best friend:

  • Go for long runs/walks. I have a Frenchie. She gets hot in the summer and I have to make sure she doesn’t overexert herself when the weather is warm. During the fall I don’t have to worry as much about her overheating and can take her on more adventures. You still want to be mindful of how long you’ve been running / walking, but in the fall there is more freedom to stay outside and go on those long trails with your bestie.
  • Hike/Leaf Peep: Autumn is a perfect time of year to go for a nice long hike with your pup and check out some scenery. Depending on where you live, you could see some amazing fall foliage and snap great pictures.
  • Take you pup pumpkin-picking: Say that three times fast… Pumpkin picking is a great way to get outdoors and do something festive with your pooch. Besides carving them, you can use pumpkin (cooked) in treats for your pup! There are many recipes out there for delicious biscuits that are good for puppies.
  • Play in the leaves: Okay, this one is obvious, but it’s fall and it’s mandatory. Rake a giant pile of leaves and watch your dog go nuts.
  • Camp with friends: Whether you prefer a cabin or tent; going somewhere in nature is what fall is all about. Gone are the days of crowded pool-parties and beaches that don’t allow dogs. Hello, great outdoors with Fido!
  • Take a crisp fall drive:  It’s the perfect time of year to pack a picnic and jump in the car with no destination in mind to check out the scenery. Pull over when you see a good spot and enjoy a picnic with your pooch with some pumpkin treats and apple slices!
  • Halloween: Is there really anything more to say? Coordinating costumes with your pup, trick or treating, Halloween pup parties; the possibilities are endless.

Try one (or all) of these activities with your pet this fall and enjoy all the season has to offer!
